Roane State is a two-year college providing transfer programs, career-preparation programs and continuing education. Founded in 1971, the college has campuses in Crossville, Harriman, Huntsville, Jamestown, Knoxville, LaFollette, Lenoir City, Oak Ridge and Wartburg.

Roane State NASA scholars

Four Roane State Community College students have received $1,250 NASA scholarships to support their pursuit of degrees in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields. NASA provided funding for the scholarships through a $499,689 grant it awarded to the Tennessee Community College Space Grant Consortium. Roane State, Cleveland State Community College, Columbia State Community College, Northeast State Community College and Pellissippi State Community College are part of the consortium. The recipients are Jaime Kilby of Ten Mile (biology), Kyley Coy of Kingston (biology), Austin Deering of Knoxville (pre-engineering) and Lerissa Douglas of Clinton (biology).
